Working in the Community!

West Wales Car Club strives to give something back to the community.

Here are some examples of the community work we have undertaken in 2009.

Digital Printing Workshop for Local Children

In July 2009, volunteers from the West Wales Car Club worked with the Youth Service to provide a Digital Printing Workshop for young people in Pembroke Dock.

Volunteers took the clubs printing equipment along and worked with the youths to create exciting and colouful designs for T-shirts and mugs.

 Pembrokeshire County Run 2009

In September 2009, volunteers from the West Wales Car Club worked closley with the organisers of this event to assist them in providing the 12th annual Pembrokeshire County Run.

Due to the massive take up in entries for the run, the organisers had to make a decision whether to expand the starting point or turn away entries.  The club agreed to take responsibility forco-ordinating a second stating point for the run, the County Hall in Haverfordwest.

Leading up to the run, the clubs Chairperson and Secretary attended meetings with the organisers to make the necessary arrangements in time for the big day!

On Sunday 6th September, volunteers from the club spent the morning organising the start point, furnishing cars with rally boards and working with the Police, Deputy Mayor and all of the participants to ensure cars joined the run safely.

 RoadRRoad Safety Awareness-Raising Event 2009

In December 2009 the West Wales Car Club held a Road Safety Awareness Raising Event for young people and club members.  The event was organised and funded by the club and participants were able to participate in this event free of charge,

Activities included a 40-Tonne Lorry Driving Experience, Driving a Skid Car, Racing in Go-Karts and getting competitive during our Hazard Perception contest, using DSA approved material.

The day was educational with a strong Road Safety theme and a lot of fun was had by everyone who attended.  The club would like to thank all of it's volunteers who worked tirelesly to ensure the event was a success.
